Research

Experienced engineers study in detail the properties of materials, using the research laboratory which incorporates a 15 kg induction melting furnace, a laboratory heat-treatment furnace, pouring simulation devices and other innovate research equipment.

EGNATIA Foundry has successfully carried out demanding research programmes in cooperation with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Some indicative projects are referred below:

• Production of steel castings using lost-foam process in cooperation with the Materials Science Lab/Mechanical Engineering Department/ Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
• Accurate reproduction of archaeological items, without contact with the original, in cooperation with the Mechanical Engineering Department of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Products development

The Technical Department of EGNATIA Foundry determines the conditions and the process of production taking into consideration the specifications of each product.

The design of patterns and the supervision of their manufacturing, the design of the cast parts and the ready-machined products, as well the study of the feeding systems in the molds are executed by the most experienced engineers in the company.

The use of the most efficient casting simulation and solidification software MAGMASOFT® provides the best control and ensures the highest quality for every new product.
